Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems continues to improve resources and invest in advanced equipment to improve the quality of care for our patients. A capital purchase was approved by the Board of Trustees to invest in a wireless EKG / ECG machine.
An EKG is an integral part of the initial evaluation of a patient suspected of having a cardiac-related problem. It is one of the fastest, noninvasive tests used to assess the electrical signals in the heart. This procedure is painless, and is used to quickly detect heart problems such as a heart attack, heart failure, heart damage or an abnormal heart rhythm. With cardiovascular disease being the number one cause of death, we are proud to have an updated wireless EKG machine to be used at MCHHS, providing immediate care to our patients.
Temporary electrodes are placed on the patient’s chest and limbs to monitor and document the patient's electrical heart activity. The healthcare provider is able to interpret the translated wave pattern from the EKG machine, using it as a diagnostic tool in their treatment plan.
“Meeting the needs of our patients is our top priority,” stated Samantha McMillan, ER Nurse Manager.  Gaye Daniels, Laboratory Manager shares, “Unlike our previous EKG machine, our updated wireless unit does not need to be in the room near the patient, helping healthcare workers have more room to care for patients.”
