LOGAN, KS — The 48th Annual Hansen Museum Labor Day Celebration will take place Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Logan Golf Course, located 1.25 miles east of Logan on Highway 9. Sponsored by the Hansen Museum with funds from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, this long-time family tradition is free and open to everyone.
Festivities get underway at 10:00 a.m. with the Dane G. Bales Jr. Memorial Car Show, a community favorite since 1998. This year’s featured vehicle is a beautiful 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria owned by Linda Artz of Phillipsburg, Kansas. Visitors have until 4:00 p.m. to stroll through the show, admire an impressive assortment of vehicles, visit with their owners, and see which entries take home this year’s awards. There is no entry fee for the car show.
Sand Volleyball Tournament – Gather your friends for some friendly competition! Teams must include three men and three women, all 16 years of age or older. First-place winners receive 50% of the purse plus T-shirts; second place earns meal tickets and T-shirts; and third place takes home T-shirts. Teams may register online at www.hansenmuseum.org or on-site by 10:30 a.m. the day of the event. The tournament begins at 11:00 a.m.
Family Fun All Day – Youngsters will find plenty to keep them entertained with free inflatables and games, along with free face painting and temporary tattoos by Color Me Crazy! Face Painting. At 2:00 p.m., the Siruta Pedal Pullers State-Sanctioned Kids’ Tractor Pull gets underway, with registration beginning at 1:00 p.m. Winners will have the opportunity to advance to the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.
New This Year – Cornhole Tournament – The Logan Fire Department Cornhole Tournament adds another round of friendly competition to this year’s celebration. The tournament begins at 2:00 p.m., with registration opening at 1:00 p.m.
Food & Refreshments – Come hungry and plan to stay for the day! The Logan Junior Class Food Booth will serve lunch and supper, giving visitors a chance to enjoy a meal while supporting the Junior Class. The Corn Kettle, Triple C Lemonade, and Buck’s Snow Shack will also be on hand with refreshments and treats throughout the day.
Museum Exhibit: Going Places – The fun continues at the Hansen Museum, where visitors can take a break from the outdoor festivities and explore Going Places: The Technology of Transport. This hands-on, interactive exhibition invites visitors to discover the science and technology that keep people and goods moving by land, sea, and air. Try your hand at piloting an airplane, explore different forms of transportation, and discover the technology behind how we travel. The Museum will be open 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., and, like all Hansen Museum exhibitions, admission is free.
Evening Entertainment & Fireworks – At 5:30 p.m., grab a lawn chair and settle in as The Innocence from Kearney, Nebraska, takes the stage. Featuring five talented musicians and strong vocalists, the band performs a wide variety of music spanning genres and eras, offering something for just about every musical taste. As darkness falls, Rainbow Fireworks of Inman, Kansas, will bring the celebration to a spectacular close with a fireworks display that will light up the Logan sky.
From classic cars and friendly competition to family activities, great food, live music, and fireworks, the Hansen Museum Labor Day Celebration offers something for all ages. Thanks to the generous support of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, admission and activities are free—visitors only need spending money for food, beverages, and treats.
